Some High Blood Pressure Symptoms In Men

By Bradd Alan

Hypertension, generally known as high blood pressure, is silent killer ailment that affects one out of every three people in America. This translates to a whooping sixty five million people. High blood pressure happens once the pressure in the blood quickly increases to uncontrollable high levels. Most young men are often unlikely to get hypertension but the risks increase after they hit age 45. Since high blood pressure develops with time, you will find no obvious identifiable signs and symptoms specific to it. This means that it requires a very long time for the pressure to build up to an extent where it may cause harm to the kidney and other body organs. While there are no specific symptoms to high blood pressure, you will find a couple of high blood pressure symptoms in men, whose combination may mean you have high blood pressure.

Hypertension in men can cause constant and severe headaches. This is especially in hypertensive crisis, which is when the systolic blood pressure is above 180 while the diastolic pressure is below 110. Systolic pressure is the top number of your BP while diastolic pressure is the lower number of your BP (blood pressure)

Research carried out within a hospital established that 17% of patients treated for hypertension experienced nosebleeds, making nosebleeds an indicator of HBP. Nosebleeds could be triggered by many other factors but, should you experience several nose bleed each week, this may be a sign that the blood pressure is actually high. The research also established that nose bleeds are extremely common in early stages of HBP.

Another symptom that could be an indicator of high blood pressure in men is the formation of blood clots in the eyes which is also known as subconjuctival hemorrhage. This occurs when the veins in the eyes expand to accommodate the blood pressure and then contract when the pressure eases. If this condition goes untreated, it can cause severe damage to the optic nerves.

When the blood vessels in the face dilate, you may experience flushing of the face. Face flushing can also be caused by exposure to the sun and skin care products. However, HBP flushing of the face happens unpredictably and constantly.

Constant lightheadedness is also one of the common signs of high blood pressure in men. Lightheadedness is triggered by the possible lack of blood circulating to the brain. Therefore causing a discrepancy that can lead to fainting.

Another high blood pressure symptom in men is difficulty breathing. This is triggered with by a reduction in supply of oxygen to the heart because the arterial blood vessels within your body expand to support the increased blood pressure. This then leads to difficulty in breathing

One of the major telltale signs of hypertension in men is blood in urine. This is especially so for long untreated cases of HBP. Urine in the blood occurs when the blood pressure has reached alarming levels that cause damage to bodily organs. If this is experienced, you should consult your physician immediately.
