Cheap Cheerleading Uniforms And Other Dance Items

By Chasity Sheppard

Being a cheerleader is hard work, but is a great way to keep fit and make friends. There are lots of events to attend and it requires physical stamina. You may also need to invest in equipment, but things can be bought for little money, like cheap cheerleading uniforms.

The first thing you need to do is find a squad. There may be just one place, or there could be a larger number of people to audition. Look for advertisements of auditions, or contact the captain to express your interest.

Auditions can vary from team to team, but it is likely to revolve around dancing and tumbling. Some teams will take absolute beginners, perhaps just for classes to start with, before you can then move on to an events team. However, it is better for your chances of success if you can perform some moves like the splits or a few tumbles.

It can be hard to learn how to tumble. Professional guidance will lessen the risk of injury and will increase your confidence for the audition. This could be through an alternative sport like gymnastics, or you could join a cheer skills class that will prepare you for joining a performance team. There you can be taught how to perform a basic tumble, and if the class is connected with the team they could help you with general tips about how to impress.

When you have been accepted as a member, you will then need to buy your outfit. The standard dress is a skirt, shorts and top. For those cheering at outdoor events in cold weather, you may be allowed to wear a long sleeved top underneath the cheer top so as to keep warm.

Another part of the dress code is the bow. Most teams will have one to match their outfit colours, and it can be worn with your hair up or down, or even clipped into very short hair. These can be bought in bulk by the team captain or coach, and then sold to each member of the group to make it cheaper.

A lot of the performances a cheerleader is required to do are supporting other sports teams. However, there are also specific competitions set up for cheer squads. Depending on the type of competition, your squad may choose to wear the normal outfit, or you could wear a costume. For example, a theme with matching costumes and music could make you stand out from the crowd.

It is also important to wear the correct footwear. The best thing to wear is trainers, as this will support your feet as you dance and tumble. If your team is a dance group rather than a tumble group, you may be required to invest in dance shoes, so check with the captain.

Cheap cheerleading uniforms, footwear and hair bows can all be bought from a variety of stockists, and there is a high level of choice to suit different team styles and colours. The captain or coach will tell you which items you need to buy. However, some captains like to buy the items in bulk so that the team members will pay less when they buy their uniform individually.
